Washing Instructions

How to Not Ruin Your New Favorite Shirt:

  • Cold water only (hot water is for overachievers)
  • Turn inside out before washing (protect that graphic you're gonna wear until it falls apart)
  • Use a gentle detergent - this garment-dyed cotton is chill, keep it that way
  • First wash might bleed a little, so separate it from your fancy stuff
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry (air drying = more time for snacks)
  • We reduce plastic waste by the removal of polybags from all products except color White

What a Long Strange Swell It’s Been

Every surfer has a few stories the ocean refuses to let them forget.

This Black Irish Surf Co. design celebrates the long, unpredictable relationship between a surfer and the sea. A massive dark-blue wave curls around the composition while a skeletal hand grips a battered surfboard as if it has been holding on through years of storms, wipeouts, road trips, missed forecasts, and unforgettable sessions.

The oversized phrase “WHAT A LONG STRANGE SWELL IT’S BEEN” delivers the joke with a vintage counterculture feel, while the weathered board, bone hand, and turbulent water give it the darker, salt-worn attitude of Black Irish Surf Co.

Rendered in deep Atlantic navy, aged bone, oxblood red, and antique gold, the artwork combines retro surf-poster styling with distressed screen-print texture for a design that looks like it already has a few stories of its own.
